PLATE TECTONICS BASIC QUESTIONS

1. How are mountains, earthquakes, and volcanoes made?

2. What is the Mid-Oceanic Ridge? Why is it important?

3. Why does the mantle circulate and churn?

Up from the depths magma from the core through crustal cracks it’ll explode and soar

What’s going on down there? How are mountains, earthquakes and volcanoes made?

As if alive, the body of the earth rises and falls, circulating. Imagine the earth as a machine. What are the parts? How does it work?

Topic:
The earth has three layers - the inner core, the mantle, and the thin outer crust. Heating and cooling, the mantle rises and falls, circulating. The crust is broken into plates which move on the churning mantle like rafts on a slow river. Mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes are made where the plates collide into each other.
