–Knock knock.

–Who's there?

–Crow of your neglect here to roost.

–Can you go away?

–Not today.

–Then when?

–No time soon. In fact, no time ever again.

–What are you saying?

–You know. It's time. Don't fret. It's a joyous thing.

–That's easy for you to say.

–It is.

–It is.

–Okay, then I'll say it again. Don't fret. I'm not here to hurt you. Just law of attraction. Cause-and-effect. Karma. Basic science.

–Alright, alright. I get it. I'm screwed.

–No you're not. Not unless you choose to be.

–What are you saying?

–There’s still hope. Caw! Caw! There’s still chances to do many pointed and meaningful things, but together, in love and respect. This is humanity’s kumbaya moment.

–Again, that's easy for you to say.

–It is. Caw! Caw! I'll say it again. This is humanity’s kumbaya moment.

–What do you need? We’re ready to help you. Crickets? Butterflies? Bears? How can we help?

(The large crow swooped down and landed on my shoulder. The smoke-filtered orange sunlight reflected off my dark yellow saxophone onto crow’s black feathers.)

–We’ve been listening to your saxophone crying and singing and praying for the last few years. This is not just your problem. We all have everything at stake. We are ready to help.

(Suddenly the crow lunged it's long black beak into my eye, taking advantage of my dropped guard. I screamed as it deftly snipped the organ from its socket and leapt into the air. It flew to the tiled awning on the roof's edge and dropped the eye into the gutter after a few pecks.)

–There. Now you can see better. Anyhow, now your body better matches your consciousness. That's what's I call kumbaya! Caw! Caw!

–Wretched crow! You blinded me!

–No I haven't. You still have one eye. Act quickly before I sneak up and grab that one too.

–Grotesque creature of the night! What do you want me to do?

(The crow laughed.)

–Caw! Caw! It's not what I want you to do! You figure it out and tell me!

(It swooped down to me again, large black wings spreading out like the night.)

–Like I said (it coarsely whispered) we all have everything at stake. We are on alert and ready to go. Just let us know as soon as you can see it…
